Statement regarding the assault on a member of the electoral committee in Doljevac

Statement by the attorney of our colleague Strahinja, who was assaulted today in Doljevac, at the polling station where he served as a member of the electoral committee on behalf of the Student List.

According to his statement, Strahinja was assaulted by individuals from criminal circles, who are suspected of being connected to the ruling party.

The assault on him represents an attempt to conceal electoral irregularities and intimidate all those defending the electoral will of the citizens, but also an attempt to discourage voters and jeopardise the high turnout.

This incident raises a serious question of accountability of violence, intimidation, and pressure during the electoral process. No one should be subjected to assaults for protecting the legality of the elections and the right of citizens to have their vote respected.

We are sending a clear message to everyone standing behind this assault and similar once that they will neither shake us nor intimidate us. We will not back down from protecting the electoral will of the citizens of the Republic of Serbia.
